John Carsley

John Carsley has two decades of experience building and managing information systems. He played a key role in designing and programming Mathematica’s computer-assisted personal interviewing system.

Carsley, who joined Mathematica in 2007, has deployed and supported systems for a variety of large-scale studies over the years. His major projects include the Head Start Family and Child Experiences Survey, the First 5 LA Universal Preschool Child Outcomes Study, and the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children Medicaid Study. He is currently the information systems lead on the Evaluation of the Self-Employment Training Demonstration, an initiative to help dislocated workers start or grow businesses in their fields of expertise, for the U.S. Department of Labor. He is also managing all information systems tasks for the Evaluation of the Independence at Home Demonstration, which is testing the ability of the home-based primary care delivery model to reduce health care costs and improve health outcomes for high-need Medicare beneficiaries, funded by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. In addition to his project work, he supervises Mathematica’s .NET technology staff.

Carsley has a B.A. in business and administration from Temple University.
