Effective coalitions need leaders who can reach beyond individual, group, and sectoral boundaries to advance a shared vision for healthy and thriving communities. A new article in the Foundation Review, “Transforming Coalition Leadership: An Evaluation of a Collaborative Leadership Training Program,” shares findings from an evaluation by Mathematica Policy Research of a one-year pilot called the Community Coalition Leadership Program. The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation partnered with the Center for Creative Leadership to develop the pilot to test a new, team-based model to improve collaborative leadership skills.
In a short video, coauthor of the article and Mathematica Health Analyst Michaella Morzuch discusses the program and how it improved participants’ coalition leadership skills. Morzuch also highlights a few implications for foundations and other entities seeking to invest in building leadership capacity.
