Providing Timely and Reliable Evidence for Schools at No Cost

The Ed Tech Rapid-Cycle Evaluation (RCE) Coach
Jan 24, 2017

At this week’s Future of Education Technology Conference, Mathematica Policy Research and the Office of Educational Technology at the U.S. Department of Education launched a new web-based, interactive research tool for education administrators: the Ed Tech RCE Coach.

As school districts invest in new educational technologies, decision makers need timely, trustworthy evidence on the effectiveness of these technologies and the best ways to use them. The Ed Tech RCE Coach is an easy-to-use evaluation resource that helps school administrators execute quick, low-cost evaluations. It uses rapid-cycle evaluation (watch the video) to produce the evidence administrators need to make decisions about educational technologies.

“The Ed Tech RCE Coach is a free and powerful resource that helps schools assess the effectiveness of education technology to ensure it meets their needs and works as intended,” said Alexandra Resch, project director at Mathematica.

A beta version of the Ed Tech RCE Coach was launched last year for school districts and researchers to provide feedback on the tool’s usability and functionality. Comments from these users guided the tool’s development, and ongoing feedback will continue to inform future iterations of the Coach.
