Every summer, we welcome doctoral students as they develop independent research projects on their journey from inquiry to insight. Meet this year’s fellows and find out more about our fellowship program.

Sana FatimaSana Fatima is working on a Ph.D. in public administration and policy at New York University. She’s looking at the impact of fair student funding reforms on students with disabilities.

 

Selena CaleraSelena Calera, a Ph.D. candidate in public policy at the University of Texas at Austin, is examining long-term care decisions in the context of state Medicaid policy variation.

 

Rebecca GorgesRebecca Gorges is pursuing a Ph.D. in public policy at the University of Chicago. She’s looking at the effects of Medicaid managed care expansions on hospitalization rates in fee-for-service Medicare.

 

Sijiu WangSijiu Wang, a Ph.D. candidate in health services research at the University of Rochester, is examining the impact of Medicaid home and community-based services on transitions from skilled nursing facilities to the community.

 

Katie GonzalezKatie Gonzalez, who is working on a Ph.D. in education policy at Harvard, is looking at the effects of state quality standards on classroom quality in Head Start.

 

Leah ShiferawLeah Shiferaw, a Ph.D. candidate in economics at UC Berkeley, is studying the impact of food assistance on birth outcomes, using evidence from the Electronic Benefit Transfer card in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.
